This global call will\u202fhelp to\u202fidentify&nbsp;and share\u202fthe\u202finnovations enabling governments to meet&nbsp;citizens needs&nbsp;in a\u202ffast-paced\u202fworld.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\u202fare we\u202flooking for?\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The call is open to examples of innovation in government that meet the OECD definition of a public sector innovation. That means they are:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>New or novel<\/strong>:\u202fInnovations must be\u202fsignificantly new or novel to\u202fthe\u202fcontext\u202fwhere they are implemented\u202f(and many innovations involve adapting approaches from one context to another).\u202fThat might\u202fmean using&nbsp;new technologies, skills, processes, collaborations, or financing\u202fto tackle a problem.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Implemented<\/strong>:\u202fInnovations must be implemented\u202f(not just an idea),\u202feven if only\u202freaching intended users or beneficiaries\u202fat a small scale.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Impactful<\/strong>:\u202fInnovations aim to have impact. In the public sector\u202fthis involves a shift in public value, such as effectiveness, efficiency, transparency, integrity, participation, lawfulness and more.\u202f\u202f<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What does that look like in practice?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Innovations can take different forms \u2013 including policies, products, services, or processes. In\u202fa context where governments\u202fcan be stuck between\u202f\u201cbusiness as usual\u201d and the need to act\u202fmore\u202fdecisively in a fast-changing economic,&nbsp;societal&nbsp;and technological landscape\u202f\u2013 innovation\u202fis critical.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, we are particularly interested in&nbsp;identifying&nbsp;examples across three themes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Simplifying government<\/strong>: What innovations, including new methodologies and tech solutions,&nbsp;are reducing unnecessary administrative burdens&nbsp;(e.g. processes, internal rules,&nbsp;structures)&nbsp;and building capacity to deliver policy&nbsp;objectives&nbsp;efficiently?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Citizen-government&nbsp;relationship<\/strong>: What innovations are helping governments&nbsp;adapt to the rising expectations of citizens&nbsp;for greater voice&nbsp;in decision making in a more&nbsp;efficient and effective way?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M<strong>easuring&nbsp;efficiency and effectiveness<\/strong>: What innovations are helping governments to&nbsp;measure&nbsp;and track&nbsp;impact?&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can browse the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/oecd-opsi.org\/case_type\/opsi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Case Study Library<\/a>\u202fto\u202ffind examples of cases&nbsp;submitted&nbsp;previously.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Innovations may be\u202fsubmitted\u202ffrom any level of government (national, municipal),\u202fany\u202fpolicy area of government, and any geography. Submissions\u202fare welcome from public servants\u202fand those working closely with the public sector (including\u202fin international organisations, civil society,&nbsp;academia&nbsp;and the private sector). However,\u202fthe public sector must be integrally involved in the design, delivery, or evaluation of the innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why should you&nbsp;take part?\u202f&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Sharing your innovative work can incentivise, inspire,&nbsp;reassure&nbsp;and guide public servants around the world. Those\u202fwho&nbsp;submit&nbsp;cases can\u202falso\u202fbenefit&nbsp;from:\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Outstanding shortlisted cases will be invited to a\u202fglobal government innovation showcase event in Paris.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>100+ cases will be published in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=&amp;ved=2ahUKEwi_0Y3gp_SSAxUraqQEHf2hGtwQFnoECAUQAQ&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Foecd-opsi.org%2Fcase_type%2Fopsi%2F&amp;usg=AOvVaw11IyVumV_vEuc9950ETXPc&amp;opi=89978449\">OECD OPSI Case Study Library<\/a>.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>20+ cases will be featured in\u202fthe 2026 OECD <a href=\"https:\/\/oecd-opsi.org\/work-areas\/innovation-trends\/\">report on government innovation trends<\/a>.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition,\u202fit is hoped that\u202frecognition provided to\u202finnovators featured in any of the outputs above can help to build&nbsp;additional&nbsp;support\u202ffor\u202ftheir\u202fwork, both at home and internationally.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyone working in or with government is invited to take\u202fpart. It aims\u202fto\u202fbuild\u202fa stronger evidence base for public sector AI adoption\u202fby\u202fcollecting relevant use cases, policy initiatives, and hands-on implementation tools\u202fin a public-facing repository (<a href=\"https:\/\/oecd.ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OECD.AI Policy Observatory<\/a>).\u202fThese two calls are complementary.&nbsp;If your innovation&nbsp;is applicable&nbsp;to both calls,&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;worry. You can&nbsp;submit&nbsp;via either call.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What happens after you submit&nbsp;a case?\u202f&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every submission will be reviewed by an analyst in the OECD team. Most\u202fcases will be published in the\u202fthree months following the Call for Innovations.
